People consider Google Page Rank more than Alexa Rank

I have seen that people mostly try to get their Page Rank up, while Alexa Page rank is what really matters. A high alexa rank means that you are getting a lot of visitors and a high page rank means that you are getting a lot of links.

I don’t really care about my page rank, so this is a do follow . When a is do follow, it will probably drop by the Page Rank, but isn’t the visitors more important? I bank on the fact that people will get high page rank from links in my and thus I will get a better alexa rank cos they will visit to make comments.

Even if web site makers want more visitors, they sacrifice the actual feel of a great for factors like seo. If a is really good and if the content is good, people will invite other people to the . Ex: ryanrunseurope.blogspot.com

Every webmaster wants more visitors and not more links, yet he considers Page rank more. Isn’t it that people actually start to concentrate more on the visitors they get?

Internet Marketing salesmen talk like they are doing us a great favour

salesmen, in most of their sales websites make big claims and talks like they are helping us and making us great favours, like they are the next Mother Teresa or something. People should realize that most of them are basically scams and cannot actually get you what is promised.

All they actually do is try to sell an ebook or a software but they say stuff like ‘The Secret to Wealth’, right they sure do know how to make money, by making others believe that they can actually make lots of money by using their books or something.

Ofcourse, along with that, there is a huge list of fake testimonials, some of them telling that they actually made double of the money that was mentioned in the product.

If one ebook or a secret could be so helpful, world wouldn’t have poverty at all. Seriously, this guys should:

  1. Get a life
  2. Stop playing with the emotions of people

And after the product has successfully failed for the people using it, they give one lame reason, “you didn’t put enough effort into what you were doing”.

Oh by the way, their websites are another great example. It consists of one great long page, under a certain domain. The page is so long, that no one actually has the to read, so they scan through it and while scanning through it, they forget to see the small conditions mentioned in ultra small font.

This article is about how and why newspapers and magazines will go away in the future. Its by a marketing guru, Seth Godin, also known as the Wise Bald One (name coined by Brian Clark of Copyblogger), its a good analysis of why all the traditional media should get digitalized. Seth also hints out at freeware development and business models where everything is free. He also is trying to tell that, even if some people are not with the free model, its still happening and soon it will be the only thing surviving. Its a pretty good read.

Tip of the week is where we will exchange tips with each other. Add a tip in a post or a page and post the link to it on the comments. It will come up on the main post soon afterwards, hope you all participate.

This is a tool called Zemanta. Its a blogging tool basically. The great feature about it is that it automatically suggests images for the post that is being put. Also, it will suggest tags automatically. Its a and comes as an add on to firefox. I came across it while I was reading blogger buzz. The is zemanta.com and the image that is on this post was put up using Zemanta.

It hotlinks the images that come up, that is the one feature that I didn’t like very much. It would be much better if it downloads the image to the server and puts up the image with the link. Not many webmasters like their image being hot linked.

Overall, it is helpful for a blogger and does not slow down Firefox very much. It works will blogger, etc.. and it is completely free.

The title on the Zemanta is “ smarter”, it indeed does help you smarter and easier and posts do become more interactive after you add images.

It also works with Gmail, so you can automatically add images to you emails too.

Like metal/hard rock music? You might just be a gifted student

In a study done a few years ago by a college graduate on a social networking site, it was stated that those who listen to Beethoven get the highest marks and those who listen to Lil wayne get the lowest marks.

Some research on mice (not human beings) has shown that rock confused them.

Recently, a new research was done. It was shown that , or the students with superior iq, more than the average and bright student, listen to metal to get relief and manage stress.

The mice probably got confused due to the high complexity of metal , it might be bad for the average brains as it might be put on overload mode.

It is also said that dumb kids listen to metal . There is a lot of similarities between the dumb and the gifted, no joke. Both tend to get depressed easily, both have similar tastes. Only difference is a gifted or student can easily grasp knowledge and has a high marks on standard iq tests.

The thing we can take from this is, may not actually alter the mind or brain but it alters the mood. Different types of brains will like different types of and the special kinds of brains, tend to go towards metal for relaxation.

Both brains go to this for the following reason, brain of a low iq person will be looking for patterns of high complexity to prove it self to others, or the ego issue. That’s why you find many metal fans calling it superior to other and have depression.

On the other hand, the brain, does not get stimulated with the normal patterns of average , it needs something very complex like metal .

students also tend to like Beethoven for the same reason, complex notes. It is not that these notes make you intelligent, but if you like these notes, it means you are smart. Forcing your self to listen to it might not make you more intelligent. Just like, listening to metal won’t make you intelligent.

But consider, a person with average mental capacity listening to Linkin Park. The tunes are so complex, that the brain will like it, but you will notice that when you are listening to them, you’ll be thinking or visualizing some thing which is unreal. This visualization happens to most of them who are not able to follow the and the only alternative path to enjoy the hard core beats would be to accompany it with a visual stimulus.

Visual stimulus occurs for gifted people too sometimes, but this can be stopped and yet they can continue to enjoy the and understand it well.

In short, if you are able to understand the song, where the lyrics are clear and its a metal tone, then you probably are gifted.

Block spam by math failed to stop spam

Recently I published a post stating that block by might protect your site from automated bots, but it looks like they have got a lot smarter from the good old days.

Even after installing “block by math” , which asks a simple math question and the will be published only after the question has been answered properly.

After installing it, I expected to become nil, thinking that the bots will not answer the math question correctly. But the number of comments didn’t change, the bots either answered the math question or there is another way through which they , rather than from the html page.

The only powerful barrier against now on this is Askimet, which almost filters all the comments, but along with that some good comments also go into the folder and I have to check the folder for legit comments now and then.

Also, I have put the recent comments widget, and have subscribed to my own feed. When I get a , I will see it in the feed or on the recent comments widget and I will be able to kill them.

Even then it is so sad that is a major part of the network. Around an estimate, about 50% of the which comes here is on sale of viagra and some other drugs.

Is there ever going to be a complete solution for or are the bots going to get smarter? When will this finally stop and when will I finally be able to stop blogging about alternative methods on protecting . I just hate , its no good and useless. Its just selfish morons who are trying to sell illegal products which are worthless. I don’t mind people promoting their sites, that is acceptable, but what I hate is the viagra and pron site ads.

Spam email from “me”

Recently I have been getting a lot of from my own address, it looked like my account was hacked and people are sending me stuff from my own ID, so that I would buy that product, but that was not the case.

Welcome to the world of spoofing. When you send a normal postage mail, you put a return to address, but there is no way of verifying if you wrote your own return to address, same is the case with these type of new emails with your own ID. It basically means that your id was given as the return to address and sent to an invalid id, so it bounced from there and came to you.

Gmail detects this type of but some other services and the poor victims probably will read the and get scared. Note that, this type of emails can make a read but it has to be a real jackass to buy some thing which came as a from his own id.

It would be obvious for a newbie to get scared seeing from his own id, but if someone buys something after seeing this type of suspicious has to be smart (pun intended!)

If you are getting responses to emails which you never sent, it means that spammer had given your id as a reply to . Another by which spammers think they can spoof the authorities to think that you were a part of the scam. This is mainly used in emails which is promoting a scam site and not in those emails which say “I’ll give you 10% of a million dollars”.

Loss of flow of Page Rank, the bad effect of having a do follow blog

Page Rank basically depends on the number of links that come to your site from another page. If too many sites link to your page, it means that your page rank will go up but that is another thing. Internal links matter too. If pages within the document link you too, even then your page rank will go up. Thus it is always best if you have one index page.

The number of outgoing links is a factor that determines the page rank that that page will pass on to another page. More out going links will mean that the page rank being passed per page will be less. Thus it is always suggested that the internal pages should link to the index page.

Having a do follow means a sacrifice, if that is the right word, of Page rank. More links go out, which means that your pages get less page rank to the internal pages on that page.

The solution to this is to page your comments. has the ability to split the comments, that is, if there is 50 comments then you can page it into 5 comments per page. This way, the number of pages in your site will be more and number of links going out of the page will be less. Thus the page rank sacrifice you suffer will be overcome.

This can affect the flow of discussion but with , your visitors will know that they have to go to a higher page to see their or previous .

I think this example has been good enough to illustrate on how to save your page rank. In my personal opinion, after the grows big, its best if you remove the dofollow attribute.

A do follow is a where the no follow tag is removed from the url of the commentator. This allows the page rank to be passed from the page on which the user comments to the url to which he links. It also helps in increasing the search engine position, provided that the correct keywords are used.  Some use their names while commenting on a do follow and all this results to is a high page rank and showing up of their site when their name is put on . It is absolutely necessary that you put the keyword which your site is focused upon in order to get a lot of visitors. With only page rank and with out visitors, the site is practically useless.
